The past
few months have been a rollercoaster of life, and I’ve decided to start this
blog as a new project. It is inspired by the song "Broken Hallelujah"
by The Afters, who's chorus sings
"With
nothing left to hold onto,
I raise
these empty hands to you.
Here's my
broken Hallelujah.”
This song
helped me reach out and find strength to not give up on the fun things in life.
A couple of years ago it’s what drew me to actively pursue my faith. Two years ago,
it helped me when I felt alone while travelling. Now it reminds me that he is
there, even when I can’t bear to look for him. When everything is happening at
once he “makes beauty from these ashes.”
Anyway, I’m
opening a new chapter, mid-month, mid-year, mid-week, mid everything, and this
is step number two. Step one was creating a self-care plan, which weirded me
out at first, because I had all the wrong impressions of what that meant. It
turns out, self-care is as simple as getting enough sleep and eating actual
meals, instead of lunch, lunch, dinner, 4th meal, with snacks in-between
each one, and just generally making sure I’m not in breakdown mode from stress.
It can also include walks, making time to read, and best of all Netflix!
So, with all
of that, this blog is one way I am going to work towards a better Angi. The
posts will be random, and about whatever I am going through or are inspired by
or find interesting. At heart I am a nerd who loves to lose herself in her
books and dance until she can’t stand anymore. I often find myself immersed in science
and photography, and have been known to ignore everything else if a kitten or
baby is in the room. Who knows what will happen, but it’s the effort that
counts right?
